A former bureaucrat, Prof. Sivaramakrishnan is currently
Research Professor and the Chairman of the Governing Board at Centre for Policy
Research in New Delhi. As the Secretary in the Ministry of Urban Development, he
was personally involved in the legislation to amend the Constitution to provide
a framework for decentralization and empowerment of rural and urban local
bodies. Eventually the 73rd and 74th Amendments became part of the Constitution.
He is also a member of the National Technical Advisory Group for the Jawaharlal
Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. |
